My First Two Months…
So here I am, two months into my role at Mint Property Finance and I’ve already started to spread my wings!
Courtesy of the supportive environment at Mint, I have been able to quickly understand how and where I can add most value to the team in my role as Portfolio Management Support.
I have always enjoyed using my organisational and time management skills to help people and teams achieve more in their roles. By removing the administrative burden from our four-strong team of Portfolio Managers, including call arrangement, paperwork, data upload to our CRM and the chasing of insurance and building completion sign-off documentation, each Portfolio Manager is now delivering even greater levels of support to our Borrowers.
This manifests in two ways. One, an increase in the number of calls our Portfolio Managers can make to Borrowers through the life-time of their loan. And two, providing our Portfolio Managers with more time to leverage their unique skillset to proactively pre-empt any potential problems in the loan book. I am therefore helping to make the process smoother and contributing to an improved Borrower experience.
As highlighted, as I have increasingly got to understand where I can provide added value, I have been able to ‘spread my wings’ further, meaning that I have started to learn more about the upstream and downstream loan process.
Upstream, I have very much enjoyed learning more about the Post Completion Letters that are sent to Borrowers which include details regarding the funding line and payment schedule. And downstream, I am beginning to learn more about the Borrower Six Week Notification Expiry Letter which aids a successful redemption of the Borrower’s loan.
These first two months have been something of a whirlwind (in a good way!), and I have made a positive impression with the Portfolio Managers as I have started to organise their diaries, calls, emails and assigned loans, and I’m looking forward to many more enjoyable months and years at Mint.
In time, maybe one day I will start to work towards becoming a Portfolio Manager here at Mint. That’s something I’d really enjoy, and something that I know my manager, Pete Howarth, would ultimately support me on. Pete manages a fantastic department aided by a knowledgeable, expert team who are fully engaged with our Borrowers in order to deliver positive outcomes. It’s a pleasure to be part of the Portfolio Management Team and long may it continue!
