My First Month…

I was in my previous role for eight enjoyable years, following which I felt ready to take the next step in my career! As soon as my recruiter introduced me to Mint and I had the initial interview, I knew it was the role for me!!

I’ve been brought in to oversee the preparation of all company accounts and investments, create monthly and annual reports to aid business decision making, and even further develop the accounting tools and systems we employ as an organisation. 

This is no mean feat given the volume and value of financial information, but with a team of five and the support of Darren Cornwall, our Finance Director, I’m already on the path to success.

From a cultural perspective, I’m embracing the ‘family values’ approach to team and business. The experience and expertise that sits within each team is first-class, and nothing is too much trouble. I’ve been lucky enough to leave a good organisation and join a great one!

Over the course of the first month, as well as getting to know my team, I’ve been working with our Managing Director, Andrew Lazare, on a budgeting model that will more easily identify opportunities for the business and drive faster adjustments. In conjunction with our Data Analyst, Alice Venables, we’re also undertaking a deep-dive on the internal financial systems which I know will have massive benefits.

I’ve really enjoyed my first month here, getting to grips with a new business model and understanding the flow of financial information through the organisation. I’ve got an amazing team and it’s been really enjoyable getting to know them and understanding their individual contributions to Mint’s ongoing success.
